New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

The process of being grounded in Compassion, resting in Love, is the beginning point and abiding core of every compassion practice in the Christian traditions. This grounding in Compassion stabilizes and calms us amid whatever wilderness struggles we may find ourselves. … Without grounding in the Presence of Compassion, any fears, anxieties, tensions, and other reactivities that circle within us can overwhelm us, locking us into … states that throw us off the path we long to travel. But with it, we can be open and available to have Compassion fill and shape our lives. Grounding in the Presence of Compassion forms a foundation on which we can build compassionate lives.

—Andrew Dreitcer, Living Compassion: Loving Like Jesus (Upper Room Books, 2017)

Quiet Time, walks in nature, prayer, helping others, and receiving Communion are times when I am aware I rest in God’s love. I’d add sending posts to NEM. Thank You, Lord.
A wonderful breakfast with Bible/book study friends yesterday. More nice fall weather today.
Glad to read posts from Ally, Julie, and Jill. I post in the morning on my phone and read your posts on my computer in the afternoon. Finally a solution to connections.

The very things mentioned here like anxiety, are what throw me off. My dear aunt tells me to rest in the Lord. It requires intentionality and focus on peace to stay grounded. Prayer, study, serving, rest help keep me grounded.
Yesterday at court, judge saw things our way. Praise the Lord. He said we would revisit in a year. Pray that all will have peace.
Robert, glad you found a way. I have had some trouble posting. Too. Thank you for your prayers.

Taking time for stillness, sitting with others in their struggles, being in the Word – these are essentials for me. These are who anchor me – and what allow me to face the surgery with peace and confidence, and allow me to sit with others in their disquietness, including my hospice patient.
I can’t hardly believe that a week ago was surgery. I am doing so well, moving confidently. I drove myself to work today. To celebrate – I stopped at my favorite coffee place and treated myself to my favorite coffee. I also ran an errand all by myself and picked up a few things I needed. I just keep thanking God for how smooth and quick my recovery has been. I am grateful to be able to attend the grief group this evening.
I was surprised by a Facetime call from my dad aboard the cruise ship. They were docked at Puerto Rico – and because it is a US territory – he was able to call me on my nephew’s phone. He is enjoying himself – spent most the time talking about the food. He was pleased to see how well I am doing. I showed off by lifting my knee all the way to my chest.
Ally – very happy to hear your and David’s news from court. Very good indeed.
