Today’s Reflection
While the many traditions of the Christian church have varied opinions on the way in which the sacrament [of Holy Communion] is to be served and received, and in which Christ is present at the Table, there is a common sense that something holy, something transformational, something grace-filled happens in this sacrament. As a result, the Eucharist may indeed provide a way forward and a way for this divided, suspicious world to find its way to a different place, an alternative and holy vision of what it means to be in community.

Today’s Scripture
[Jesus] took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”
—Luke 22:19-20 (NIV)
Prayer for the Week
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.

I am reminded every time of Christ’s sacrifice for me. I am reminded of my sin and how because of his blood shed, I am cleansed and forgiven.
Holy Communion transforms me and puts my heart right. It is so meaningful to David and me, that we served Communion to our wedding guests as part of the service. To serve it to my mama right before she entered long-term care was and landmark in our journey as mother and daughter and a beautiful way for David and me to start married life. I cherish those moments and remember those moments, in addition to Christ’s sacrifice for us. The elements are the Presence of Christ.
