Today’s Reflection
Pausing from the busyness of our lives and recognizing the tender humanity of another restores us to our own humanity. The pulse of care and connection within us resuscitates. Our hearts, normally dulled by the day’s burdens, beat freely with love. And the ensuing kindness we extend to others has the power to resuscitate their spirits as well. For compassion not only restores the heart of our own humanity; its healing care makes human once more the heart of another grown hard and cold.

Today’s Scripture
“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

I’m thinking I may need a break from these. I am feeling jaded. Maybe I need to stop reading the reflections and questions and only read the comments.
Anyway, I went to church yesterday which was lovely as always. I am grappling with several big things in my life and maybe that is what is jading me.
When a person is brought to mind by the Spirit – someone who is going through a challenging time – to quickly pause to pray for that person…I have tried to do a better job at doing this.
Something I need to definitely improve at is sending cards to others. The cancer support group was marvelous with this with me during mom’s struggle. Cards upon cards upon cards – in my mailbox at just the right time.
Note to self – when the Spirit lays someone on your heart – pray AND send a card.
Yesterday was good family time – for Becky’s birthdays. Both of her sons, daughters-in-law and two grandchildren, along with dad and I. Pizza, homemade ice cream and a walk at a nearby park – her favorite place to walk. Afterwards, one of my nephews and Don – worked in my kitchen a bit – to get an oven to fit under the ledge of a bar – it was about 1/4 inch too low. They removed the flooring and subflooring at the back of the space and ever so slightly raised the bar to get it to fit. My friend had given me this flat top stove over a year ago – but it didn’t fit. My friend’s husband didn’t have the time to make it work. Now I have an “almost new” stove – definitely an upgrade from the one that came with the house 25 years ago.
Dad and I golfed with some friends from his church this morning. The weather was questionable throughout. We got rained out for only the last hole. It was a challenging course and I played poorly. Tennis this evening.
