Today’s Reflection
In spite of the many attempts of misguided Christians to demonize the body, Christianity is a body-positive faith. We worship a Savior who had a body. And we worship in and through our bodies. Barbara Brown Taylor writes, “What is saving my life now is the conviction that there is no spiritual treasure to be found apart from the bodily experiences of human life on earth.” That is why a Christian, by nature, should be body positive. The body must be understood as good because it is all we have to experience the Divine.

Today’s Question
Why do you think women especially need to hear about body positivity? Join the conversation.
Today’s Scripture
The voice spoke to [Peter] a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”
—Acts 10:15 (NIV)
Prayer for the Week
God of new beginnings, help me to
acknowledge, perhaps for the first time,
the beliefs about my body that I have
held for so long. Guide me in sorting
which beliefs are helpful and which are
harmful. Lead me back to you and
to this body that you called good. Amen.
Submit your prayer to The Upper Room.
Something More
Join us on March 18, 2023, for an online Academy Day Apart retreat, where we will focus on the spiritual practices of silence and contemplation as we journey intentionally through this Lenten season. We will be guided by Gabby Cudjoe-Wilkes and Andrew Wilkes, authors of Psalms for Black Lives. In our time together during this retreat, Gabby and Andrew will help us engage the Psalms to create a laboratory of justice imagination. Learn more and register here.

Women tend to view themselves critically, there is so much in the media/social media realm that can really sink it the female psyche.
Snow Wednesday, 72 and sun yesterday, snowing now. This yo-yo weather. Windy too, so I didn’t run this morning. I have a tennis match this evening – so just did a brief stint on the elliptical.
Fairly easy going day at school and grading seems pretty under control.
Just got a text from a former student – saying she had an extra ticket to an art fair/market tomorrow. We are going to grab lunch and hit the show afterward. A pleasant unexpected thing that works with my schedule tomorrow.
Prayers for those who drop by here for a quiet respite. May you linger in His presence a bit longer.
Yes, society and especially social media show the ideals they think we should all strive to achieve. Even mainstream media, books and movies, perpetuate this fantasy. But the Bible tells us that we are wonderfully made and that each body is a unique gift from God. We should celebrate all that our bodies do for us each day.
Also yes, Jill, the weather has been loony lately. We also reached 70 degrees yesterday. That was the first time since weather records have been kept that this area had three 70 degree or higher days in the month of February! Now it is 34, ugh.
H had no brain yesterday. Even the most mundane task flummoxed him. Let me tell you, doing all the thinking for myself and someone else is exhausting. Megan and I are discussing, truly not fantasizing, leaving. It would be easier if he was not so nasty. And no this is not part of the condition, he has always been thus. Thank you all for your words of encouragement.
I agree with Julie and Jill concerning the way women are treated in social media. I would add that the law is also a factor. Thank God for women.
Still getting adjusted to posting in the afternoon, early evening. Like our recent “loony” weather I’m out of kilter. Am thankful for nice fluffy snow, great snowshoeing. Temps below zero early this morning. High in the teens.
Absolutely h is an extreme challenge. I can understand your feelings, interest in leaving. Despite his long standing nasty behavior, he is in need of care. How to accomplish that and give you peace at the same time is there question. May God guide you , Julie and Megan.
Thankful for that wonderful surprise from your former student, Jill. School is going well.
Our third coordinating pastor will be introduced today. Thank You, Lord.
