New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

Since our spiritual life isn’t just a slice of our life but our whole life seen from the perspective of relationship with God, what happens when we forget to surrender to the presence and agency of the living Christ within us, the very Life within our life? Here’s what: We burn ourselves out making things happen.

—L. Roger Owens, Everyday Contemplative: The Way of Prayerful Living (Upper Room Books, 2022)

Today’s Scripture

When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory.

I think accepting God’s gift of Jesus as Lord and Savior, means we try our best to love as God loves, unconditionally, fully. With Christ in us we are able to do what we as humans can and with God’s mercy, grace, and love the task can be achieved. We, ourselves, might not see the task achieved, but in God’s own time it will be accomplished. Nothing can stop God’s plan.
Thankful for positive, even if not complete, steps toward the continuity of CCUMC at yesterday’s church conference. The lay leadership portion of our community is adjusting to new realities. We learned that our entire New England Conference from the bishop to our church is having similar
issues. We’re all in the same boat, thankfully, Christ is with us as we cross the sea.
Thankful for a second day of kim bab for supper. A familiar dish has returned to the menu and for first efforts is rewarding us with delicious meals.
It’s snowing! This could be a very snow filled week if the weather forecasts continue to be accurate.
Sure hope skiing and snowshoeing are much improved.
Worship planning for this coming Sunday is underway. The Beatitudes are the focus of this week’s worship service.
Thank You, Lord for the blessings of the day.

“The life within our life,” could this be our spiritual life? Our inner most life/ self? I’m not sure, but if I interpret it as one of these I think it means to surrender our innermost being to Christ. Our most authentic self.
Spent yesterday on my own. I went to church and then saw my pastor and his wife at Barnes and Noble as well as Megan and her dad. I also had a wonderful chat with a close friend. So I never truly felt alone. It snowed here and just wrapped up. We got 1.5 inches but it looks like more. Wednesday morning is looking bad which is when Bible study happens and I do not like to miss so hopefully this changes.

      Correction
We got almost 4 inches of snow by end of storm

We can’t compartmentalize our life in Christ, our actions, our commitments. We can’t “put on our Christianity” in needed situations. The Holy Spirit needs to be evident in all our actions and interactions, reflecting a changed and submitted (surrendered) spirit.
School seemed busy today, which is a good thing because it passed quickly. I had physical therapy after school and received a new treatment for me – “dry needling”…similar to acupuncture. If there are results to be seen – I should see them within 24 hours. Also had a good conversation with my physical therapist – getting a recommendation for a hip specialist orthopedic.
The kittens’ energy level seems back to normal. They are racing around.
