Today’s Reflection
To claim that we are children of Abraham (let alone Adam and Eve) is to recognize that there are hidden dangers in turning over the leaves of the family Bible and laying bare our spiritual family tree. …
Abraham’s family is our own. His battle with faith over cynicism is our own war with disappointment. The tears of Lot’s wife sting our cheeks with their salt. The despondency of Hagar is our fear. The terror of Isaac cries out from the heart of every child of God at one time or another. And our faith is challenged to believe that God will provide a ram to save us from the fire.

Abraham believed! The seeds of faith God planted in Abraham grew. He leaves Ur at the direction of God. He picks up and leaves because God calls him. How amazing is that. God, too, calls us, we have the ability to believe bestowed in us. Belief comes because God makes it possible. We can accept God and believe or turn God down. There is free will. Of course, God wants us to accept and still loves us if we turn away, but turning away has negative consequences.
Sometimes it takes a bit, a few hours, even a day, to recognize that the day you just experienced was one of those amazing days. Yesterday was such a day. Thankful for the many blessings of the day,
No need to get a new water heater, air in the system was released and both the boiler and the water heater are fine. Saved a lot of money. Had a great walk to the frozen over beaver pond. Special German cookies, Springerle, are on the way. A wonderful supper.
Thanksgiving dinner will be special. Prep for Advent and Christmas is underway.
Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.
Blessings!
