Today’s Reflection
This week’s prayers are written in call-and-response style. One person reads the lines labeled “One,” and the group responds with the lines labeled “All.”
ONE: Jesus, you can empathize with us as we grieve. You, Lord, have sat
with the trauma of loss. You know the anger, sadness, and confusion that
comes when death visits your loved ones. You know because you wept for
the loss of your friend. Weep with us today, Lord. We trust in you to meet
us in this space. Remind us that we are not alone.
ALL: Come, Lord Jesus, bring us comfort.

Today’s Question
How often do you pray for a community that has lost someone tragically? Join the conversation.
Today’s Scripture
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
—2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV)
Prayer for the Week
ONE: Come marchers, intercessors, artists, and prophets.
Come newcomers and those who have tried, tried again.
ALL: Get close, get close, get closer now.
Draw near, ask questions, sing songs, take steps.
We need you together.

Something More
The final litany from Rally was written by Britney Winn Lee in the beginning days of the global pandemic. This prayer reminds us that hope endures; goodness prevails; people surprise us; and love cannot, has not, will not fail. Watch and listen.

Not as often as I should. There is so much “hurt” in the world at the moment only God can handle it all. I can and do think of and pray for others near and far, known and unknown, in what ever circumstances they find themselves, but God knows each one of us by name, the number of hairs on our head. Thank You, Lord.
Areas where hurricanes IAN and FIONA passed by are in my prayers. The damage and loss of life is enormous. Some places are about to be hit as IAN continues. Glad there are warnings so people can prepare, but even so catastrophe will occur.
Prayers too for Julie, h, and Megan, Jill, Larry, and Becky, Ally&David, April and her loved one, Lou, her brother and mother, Rick and Scott and all who are in touch with these dear NEM family.
Thankful for a great day yesterday, progress in many areas both at home and away.
A new month starts tomorrow. Worship, communion, and meetings with our DS. on Sunday.
Blessings, good wishes, and peace to you all.
I sometimes pray for that person’s family and friends.
Prayers for Ally and David and Scout, may all receive relief from health issues. Prayers for Jill and her family, good to hear that the ones in Florida are well. Prayers for Lou and her family, may her brother have relief from pain. Prayers for Robert and his church members as they conttinue to support one another and each do their part to sustain the church.
When it hits close to home, I am in prayer for those deeply impacted.
The loss and devastation in Florida are almost too much to fully comprehend. My best friend’s father and step mom evacuated and won’t be going back until Monday. It is hard to say what they will be walking into. Her uncle’s family did not evacuate – and they are without water, electricity and sustained substantial damage to their home. He told her there are no telephone poles anywhere – and cannot imagine when they will get power back.
I am grateful my family is good. I spoke with Becky this morning and stores in their area are reopening today. She said dad was fidgety yesterday, as he wanted to go out – but nothing was open, nothing to do.
A low key weekend ahead – I am grateful. Both of my tennis teams have byes.
