New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

We know God does not like walls. Jesus died to break down the dividing walls of hostility (Eph. 2:14). Walls are a physical confession of sin. Walls do not make good neighbors. We need to ask ourselves what we are walling in and walling out. We also need to remember the most powerful walls are invisible, in our minds. What might it mean to create a well in the midst of conflict, not a wall?

Today’s Question

Today’s Scripture

Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.”
—John 4:13-14 (NRSV)

Prayers for our friends and allies in the UK who today are mourning the passing of Queen Elizabeth. She was a person who sought to build wells where othes saw only walls. The world is a dimmer place without her and she will be missed.
Prayers for Ally as she battles pain and intense responsibilities that do not allow her rest. May God provide. Prayers for Jill and her students as they finish the week. Prayers for Lou and her family as they minister to her brother. Prayers for Robert and his church, may God lead them in their quest for self ministering.

Yes, prayers for everyone who knew, respected, admired the Queen. Very distantly through her mother and my mother’s family I am related to her. I’m glad to say I saw her three times in 1969, twice on Investiture Day and once in London..
Like every human she had days of varying qualities, but overall she most definitely was a remarkable, devoted, and caring person, head of state, and embodiment of the spirit of Britain.
Prayers for care givers Julie, Jill, Ally&David, April, and Lou. May those who receive the care they give be blessed . A weekend after the first week of school, highly anticipated every year no matter how long you have been teaching. Hopefully Sunday the three of us trying to take the Lay Servant class will get back on course.
I think wells, boundaries and even a few walls are all necessary. Christ kept the Devil away and can keep the Devil away for us too. Other than that let wells and tender boundaries abound..
A beautiful hike in Pinkham Notch to Cascade Falls and Lady’s Lookout. Only a tiny cloud on Mount Washington’s summit and a clear view of Tuckerman’s Ravine made a great picture.
    Thank You, Lord.

We have loved in our neighborhood for over 2 years and are just now getting to know some of our neighbors. We may have some things in common, but differences as well. We decided to look past our differences and be friends and neighbors. Thank you Lord, for the blessing of our neighbors.
I have been sort of out of pocket this week. I have a neck vertebra out of alignment and a a lipoma on my upper back, which may have pushed the vertebra out of alignment. It is very painful and I see my dr today. I appreciate your prayers. Sleep has been difficult and prayers are appreciated for us.
I love each of you and hold you in my heart. May God bless and keep you and give you peace.

What a good question. One to take to prayer – with an open mind and a confessing heart. I think about walls I have had in the past…what a shame. May I be diligent in the future to not erect these barriers – but to leave open space.
Received news at the end of the day that a colleague passed this afternoon. I can’t remember if I related this a few weeks ago – but she had been diagnosed with colon cancer a little of two years ago. Fought it valiantly. But the past few weeks, the cancer became super aggressive. It’s sad. The kids will find out Monday – it will be a hard day. As I think about it – I do believe I mentioned her here. She has been with our program since its inception in 1996. A beautiful, kind soul.
Had enough energy to mow the lawn after dinner. Glad it is done. Golfing tomorrow with dad – it will likely take the bulk of the day.
My thoughts are with my friend – whose mother’s celebration of life service is about to begin. I hope that the very small family gathering will help them all along their grieving process.
