Today’s Reflection
When you are feeling that the worry habit is getting the better of you, when all the woes of the world (or of your life and your family) seem to have fallen on your shoulders, when everyone else around you seems oblivious to the gravity of a situation . . . when all of these events take place, and you are worried, stop! Take a deep breath and choose the better thing. Prayerfully and in great love and humility, turn your eyes upon Jesus.
As you feel the light of Jesus’ presence, you’ll also feel all those worries, large and small, fall away from your mind.
—Patricia Wilson, Freedom from Worry: 28 Days of Prayer (Upper Room Books, 2012)
Today’s Question

Today’s Scripture
Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
—Hebrews 12:1-2 (NRSV)
Prayer for the Week
Loving God, I am weighed down by worrying so much. Help me remember that you care for me and my needs. I bring my anxieties to you and trust in your power to relieve them. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Traveling home today after 10 days away at the beach- I didn’t worry about much while away- now back to the routine and all of my responsibilities…I am grateful for time away and a break from routine and responsibilities.
Prayers for you all this day-
Sometimes I have to trust that Jesus has taken my worries and burdens because I still feel them. Am I trusting Jesus fully? I tend to set my burdens at Jesus’feet and then tie a rope around them and drag them with me away from the alter. I know God will sit with me in this season of weirdness and uncertainty. Lou, the beach is best for making burdens lighter. Blessings to you and your family. Lord, hold close in my heart what you have laid on all our hearts today.
How wonderful to bring that hymn to mind – “Turn your eyes upon Jesus”. With or without worries – we should be in habit of doing this. I was able to do this just a few moments ago, while I was outside watering my flowers. I had played tennis earlier and my discomfort is rising. I am seeing an exercise physiologist/sports therapist in hopes of getting my body back on track for playoffs. I had to surrender my desire to feel better and just to trust God with this flare and seek His will, even if that means I am compromised for tennis. I feel like I am doing what is within my control to do. I backed out of tennis tomorrow – because my body needs the break. I almost can’t bear the thought that I wouldn’t be mobile enough to play, but – this too – I must take to Him in prayer.
My friend accompanied me to early morning church. We had been church buddies for quite a while, until I left five years ago. We will be doing lunch for a late birthday celebration for her on Wednesday. She also picked out a book for us to work our way through.
Going to art in the park here in a moment to help my friend tear down her display and tent. Then off to the airport to get my nephew and his wife. He just texted me and said that for now, everything is on time. Here’s hoping it stays this way.
Blessing on this new week, our last week of July.
Texted earlier, I didn’t post, got to read three before trying again. We each have our “place” where God seems closer, the beach for some, mountains for others and so on. Thankfully God is EVERYWHERE! Health, illness, physical ability, surgery, and rehab prayers for the needs of Julie, h, Ally&David, Jill, and all those in need. It’s a trek home via trains and a bus, but it all went well . I’m recovering from being travel tired. Many people in church today, our tech help’s last day, his surgery tomorrow. We’re being kept informed. Erich and Pearl did fin while I was away. Hopefully rain tonight will cool us off, highs in the 90s all week. Be safe and cool. Thank You, Lord.
