New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

I was deeply out of rhythm with my spiritual life. There were no spiritual markers to my days: no morning prayer, no praise songs, no closing of the day before God. I wasn’t praying with anyone on a regular basis, and I definitely wasn’t reading the Bible. You have to understand, these had once been typical activities in my life, back whenever it was that I considered myself somewhat spiritually healthy. Now, I was very aware of feeling “lost at sea” without any kind of anchor in sight. My spirit felt desperately ill, and I needed to work on my relationship with God.

Today’s Question

When you are “out of rhythm with [your] spiritual life,” what helps you reset?
Join the conversation.

Today’s Scripture

[Jesus said,] “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
—Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message)

Prayer for the Week

God of hope, when we reach out to you with our dreams and our confessions, may we feel you reaching back out to us. Nourish our spirits, and nudge us to incorporate you into the rhythm of our days. Amen. Submit your prayer to The Upper Room.

Repent and recommit. The world’s distractions need to be dealt with so refocus can occur. As humans we are prone to wander, recognizing this truth, discovering we are off the path and then correcting out ways bring us back to the straight and narrow. I’m nit sure how all of this occurs, I think there is some help from the Holy Spirit,
Thankful that I’ve been able to work on the East Swanton station model. Yesterday was the first time in a while. I’m very encouraged by the progress,
Snow flurries and rain today, warmer temps, hope this is not the end of winter, I’d be happy to make more snowshoe treks,
Proverbs Bible study moving along, will have to look for another topic/book soon.
Will have our second guest pastor this Sunday, There will be some consistency between now and Easter. Very thankful for that. The worship team needs to recharge to be ready when this ends.
Continued prayers for the NEM family, Thank You, Lord.

I have actually found that I need breaks sometimes. Breaks from all kinds of things, including being intensely attuned religiously. I feel this is frowned on by most religious people, but I find a fresh perspective and appreciation when I “return.”
My doctor gave me a very low dose diuretic for three days. So far no improvement but I remain hopeful. I am trying to continue to eat even when my stomach protests. Hopefully as the swelling in my upper stomach heals it will get easier to eat. An internal upper GI scope in the hospital revealed the swelling.
Prayers for Ally, for retrieval of family treasures and improved finances. Prayers for Robert’s church and for his area to get more snow (but not us!). Prayers for Jeremy and Roger.
Thank you for y our prayers and may God bless all who visit here.

I have been through a similar season the past few weeks. I’m not where I want to be, but not where I was. When I can’t find the words to pray, I use the words of others. I have been reading the works of Anne Lamott and Lauren Winner and I rest.
I got a letter from social security yesterday advising me that the attorney has started working with them on my case. Please continue to pray for this process and for a way to earn some income while waiting. David is doing really well. We are thankful for this, for our kitties, family and friends, our church family, food on the table, and a warm house. Please continue to pray for situation regarding gaining access to our mama’s house.
Robert, I continue to pray for your church and the worship team. Glad to hear you have been working on your models. Julie, praying that the swelling will subside and you will be able to eat. Hope your kitties are thriving and Megan is well. I agree that a break from intense spirituality can be a good thing. Prayers for Jill as she works hard to teach her students, that she remain safe, that Roger will be restored to health. Praying that Larry is enjoying his visit with Becky and her family in Florida. I pray that peace and justice will prevail. Blessings to all my dear friends.
