Today’s Reflection
This fair, lovely word, Mother, is so sweet and kind in itself that it may not be truly said of any or to any but of and to him who is the true Mother of life and everything. The properties of motherhood are nature, love, wisdom, and knowledge, and it is God. A kind, loving mother who knows the needs of her child protects it most tenderly, according to the nature and condition of motherhood. …
Our Lord does this and all that is fair and good in those by whom it is done. So he is our Mother in nature through the working of grace.

Today’s Scripture
But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
my soul is like the weaned child that is with me.

God’s kindness, to me, has always been viewed as His compassion. Out of such great love, He tenderly cares for us, providing what is necessary. He “mothers” us with His protection and mercy, while maturing us with His discipline.
Yesterday was a beautiful sun-shiny day. Dad and I met at the park. Some trees are bare and some have yet to change their colors. We ran into mom’s sister and her husband and one of their grandsons. I hadn’t seen them for quite a while. Dad sees them frequently. They live very close to each other.
I got a lot of work done and my yard shaped up. Today will be another filled day…with some tennis to break up the tasks and a big football game between my Northeast Ohio team and Julie’s hometown squad. It would be nice if my team could make it a competitive rivalry once again. Will begin the day with online church. I look forward to returning to in person worship.
To me God surely has both motherly and fatherly attributes. They are all positive. Mothers and fathers can be negative too, bur God doesn’t have those qualities. God is good.
A frost last night and it will be a chilly day. Not sure how many will go to today’s tailgate fellowship. Virus cases have doubled in NH in the last two weeks.
Have the spectrum of tree foliage from none, to some, to not changed, to full color, to colored but tired.
As much as I would like in person worship, ZOOM mets the important needs and surely is safer.
Have simple step supports to install and the CV caboose is done.
God is with everyone, what a blessing that is, Thank You, Lord
At first this isea seemed counterinuitive as we normally refer to God as Father, as Jesus did. But then I thought of the scripture that describes God protecting us as a mother bird protects her young under her wings in the nest.
Prayers for Jill and her busy day. May her tennis team be victorious…but her football team not. Actually, the Brownies are doing well this year …but the Steelers are undefeated so far. Should be a good game that could go either way.
Prayers for Robert, may he be safe despite the rising virus cases. They are rising here in PA also.
Prayers for Marcy who I was unable to connect with yesterday. I am worried and hope we can speak soon.
Prayers for Ally and David, may both grow strong and healthy and grieve Mary’s passing in a meaningful way togther. May Ally’s sister receive good news from her mammogram.
Prayers for Rick and his housing dilemma.
H is on a rampage today and has been nasty to me all morning. First thing this morning Booker somehow got his paw caught under the corner of the dishwasher. He was screaming and squirming and clawed at me when I tried to free him. Luckily he was able to squirm free. A hectic morning. Mom comes home this afternoon.
