Today’s Reflection
Just as neither the Levite nor the priest needs to rush by the wounded traveler, we do not need to ignore our own emotional or physical pain. Rather, we can stop and acknowledge our suffering and ask for help in restoring the wounded parts of ourselves to life. We can respond to our wounds with mercy. Be a good Samaritan to yourself.
—Angela D. Schaffner, Revealed: What the Bible Can Teach You About Yourself (Upper Room Books, 2019)

Today’s Scripture
“What do you think? Which one of these three was a neighbor to the man who encountered thieves?”
Then the legal expert said, “The one who demonstrated mercy toward him.”
Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
—Luke 10:36-37 (CEB)

I am not sure what mercy I need to offer myself. I do believe in the days ahead – I need to step away from the screen, look out my window, and offer a quick prayer – this will help me get through the day. Permission to not be fully invested in monitoring emails and platforms constantly, for students questions and concerns.
Julie – this is how pathetic I am – I don’t even know what a router is. Is a router a modem? I have some black box with wires going in and out of it and lights on it. Like I said, pathetic. My equipment arrived yesterday, my trustworthy techie friend was on my doorstep last night when my virtual open house ended and after 1 1/2 hours – no success. I find technology wildly frustrating in instances like this. Because I am only switching internet providers and still receiving my cable/tv from my old source – I now need a technician to come out and put a separate something on the outside of my house. Not until Tuesday late afternoon. I was so discouraged last night. And God, with His perfect sense of humor, had one of my readings this morning be Philippians 4:4-9. So very perfect…rejoice in the Lord, always…whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, pleasing, commendable…any excellence and worthy of praise. Yes, yes.
I am going in to school and working from the building today. I need to not have one concern about my faulty internet today – I don’t think I would deal with an issue well. So, packing up my supplies in my backpack and will work from the building. Will meet some of my juniors today, as this is their first day back.
And I will be sure to rejoice, often, throughout the day. Father, thank You for this most timely reminder.
Have been there hooking u computers to internet, routers, wifi, etc. We aren’t all techies, thank goodness some of us are. Hope your day goes well, I taught a few classes on line and it adds to the task at hand.
Thankful supplies I can handle arrived and the station roof is nearing completion, just two vents to add.
the cupola on the caboose is now Morency orange so that project is moving ahead.
Have to work on sanding the deck, need to have it done before cold weather sets in.
Will miss some of breakfast with the pastor, have lab work at the hospital.
Prayers for a restful weekend, Thank You, Lord for the blessings of the day.
I have to offer myself the mercy to let go and Let God’s will prevail. It will prevail whether I accept or fight. I need to follow God’s will only and have the mercy to allow myself this surrender.
I would like to acknowledge that it is 19 years since that terrible day. We live it here due to the plane that those wonderfully brave people made crash in a field about two hours from my home. The sacrifices of so many that day are near in our geography and more so in our hearts. May er never forget.
Prayers for Jill and her tech issues. Thank you Lord for her ability to work from the school and for the reminder to rejoice.
Prayers for Robert and may his blood work be completely normal.
Prayers for April as she continues to read the Bible and share verses that are important to her.
Prayers, thank you, and stay well dear UR
Good morning all. I usually read the UR entry and New Every Morning after checking email. I was in training all week for my job and so exhausted by end of day, I didn’t anything which required thinking. I missed you all. As I read today’s entry, I asked God to help me to show mercy toward others and myself as God has shown me. I needed this today, because I have been beating myself up over some things. Lord, help me to extend grace as You extend grace.
David has been feeling a little better. The sleep meds are helping him and getting some much needed sleep has helped his mood. He is still thinking about trying talk therapy. I have told him how much talk therapy has helped me, so he hasn’t ruled it out and is praying about it. I know God is faithful and is with us on this. My friend and I are still working to set up our business by trying to get referrals. We are printing up business cards and making a brochure. We have been advised to drop these off with our personal physicians and take some to elder care support groups. We have set goal of having 6 clients by October 15. Please keep this effort in your prayers. I pray for you all each day, that we all seek God’s wisdom, find ways to connect with the holy during these crazy times, and that we all keep safe and well. Be blessed!
