New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Reflection

This mind-body-soul connection is crucial to wholeness. Your body signals you when you are hungry, tired, anxious, hurt, or sad. If you do not pay attention to these signals, your body becomes sluggish and cannot function properly. This disconnect can lead to spiraling thoughts that make it easier to forget that you are a precious child of God, designed with all the tools necessary to live abundantly. God’s breath is in you, and you are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Ps. 139:14). You were created with the ability to know when you need to rest, nourish, heal, protect, and soothe your body.

—Sarah E. Bollinger and Angela R. Olsen, The Awakened Life for High School Students: Finding Stillness in an Anxious World, Leader Guide (Upper Room Books, 2020)

Today’s Scripture

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
that I know very well.
—Psalm 139:14 (NRSV)

Making wise choices physically – sufficient rest, healthy eating, consistent exercise. But, even moreso, time in the morning in prayer, Bible reading and stillness. Throughout the day – being in the present moment and being intentional about listening well and cognizant of good words and conversation.
I think about how Jesus must have been as a listener. Not only a listener to those whom He interacted with in daily life, but how He listened to His Father. So fully in tune with Him, and desiring His will.

The two times when I most felt peaceful, connected, and whole in mind, body, and spirit were the times I believeI felt the presence of God. It happened some years ago now, but both instances were very moving and the impact is long lasting.

Thankful for cooler weather, a breeze, a trip to get Korean food today.

Prayers for peaceful justice, good health, well-being, and special prayers for those whose posts we have not seen in a while. Thank You, Lord.

I know I felt this way as I held Megan as a baby. I found an old book on baby massage and as I massaged her body from head to toe, I was also relaxed and comforted. I have not felt as connected to another person since her babyhood. I was calm and content and could feel God amongst us. I felt she had been with Him just a short time before coming to me. He still surrounded her and she was still somehow connected to Him.
Prayers for Jill, Larry and Becky and Jill’s students, may all the technology work smoothly during their time together.
Prayers for Robert, may he be safe as he travels to get his favorite cuisine and may he enjoy the meal.
Prayers for Ally and David, may David’s new medicine help alleviate his restless leg syndrome with no adverse side effects. May Ally continue to take advantage of CBT to ease her mind. I learned this technique in my social work classes and it can be very helpful.
Prayers, thank you and stay well dear UR

I am feeling that way this morning and have felt it often, usually after a good night’s sleep. It comes when I know that I have heard God’s answers to my questions, that I have done what He is telling me to do, and that He will be with me, His beloved child always.
Yes Lord, awaken me, to all that is happening in the world and how I can be your hands and feet to help make Your world more beautiful ….to your other children.
It is good to connect with everyone here and I ask God to be with each of us as we navigate whatever the day might bring. When I am outside and able to breathe fresh air, I am reminded of those who are living close to the fires and how the air quality must be so bad. I pray for rain to drown the flames and green grass to come back to life, trees to clear the air, and safety to all firefighters.
    Blessing to all.
