Today’s Reflection
I have found it helpful to create a spiritual autobiography or a faith journey timeline to look back at the highs and lows of my spiritual journey and remember the ways that God has been with me. Like the contemporary gospel hymn says, God has been there, through it all. “Through it all, through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus, I’ve learned to trust in God.” Hold on to the assurance that God is with us. Hold on to the signs from the past year that give hope and promise.

I don’t think I have any spiritual practices specifically that help me see how God has been with me. I can look back and think of how he has never left me even through my darkest hours – my faith and belief in His mercy and love for me are the things that sustain me. The stories of faith offered here also sustain me – and the people in my life that are a witness to his everlasting love and peace help me through.
May the light of His love be with you all today. I’ve enjoyed good but very busy and draining time with my children- everyone leaves tomorrow and I will travel to the west coast on Tuesday to spend a week with a dear friend. Hoping for some much needed r and r and a chance to recharge my batteries – I’ve had a nice break away from my office – but not away from the work of the holidays!
Peace to you all-
May you be recharged and refreshed, Lou!
Have a safe and good trip!
Blessings!
Psalm 34:18 – The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.
I am grateful for an hour walking yesterday, with Lowell, on the indoor track at our local high school. Every moment, I work within the borders of back pain. I believe this invites a discipline in practicing trust and gratitude. I pray for all who live with pain.
