The Basics: Kindle eBooks

WHAT TO KNOW WHEN PURCHASING ANYWHERE THAT IS NOT AMAZON.COM

This is for all you Kindle users out there!

Did you know you can purchase eBooks for your Kindle from Bookstore.UpperRoom.org?

Purchasing Kindle products from online outlets other than Amazon is a common practice among online retailers outside the Amazon.com network. Here are some things you need to know so you can read our eBooks on your Kindle device or Kindle eReading app.

1: DOWNLOAD YOUR DIGITAL PURCHASE:

Your purchase from us at http://bookstore.upperroom.org is available to download through your account on our website. Make sure you are logged in to access your order.

Please note: we do not have any association with the Amazon Kindle website and its user accounts, so your book will not automatically display on your Kindle device or Kindle eReading app when you click to download from our store.

This action of downloading your purchase from http://bookstore.upperroom.org saves the digital file/document to your local computer or device so it can then be added to your choice of Kindle devices and/or Kindle eReading app.

You can add the Kindle eReading app to any compatible device, including Macs, PCs, tablets, and smartphones such as iPhone and Android.

2: UPLOAD YOUR DIGITAL PURCHASE TO YOUR DEVICE OF CHOICE:

You will need to send or upload your purchased eBook (also called a digital document) to your Kindle device or Kindle eReading app from the device you used to download the digital document. There are lots of ways to do this, and you can use whichever one works best for you. To see all of the options available to Kindle users, visit https://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle.

NOTE: UPLOAD TO EACH DEVICE SEPARATELY. Because this purchase was made outside of the Amazon.com online network, your devices will not sync automatically. You will need to upload the eBook you purchased to each Kindle-compatible eReading device or Kindle app you would like to use.

3: ORGANIZE YOUR KINDLE LIBRARY:

Kindle devices have lots of great features, but one that does not exist yet is automatically grouping different file types. While your eBook is a Kindle-compatible eBook, it will not display automatically with your other Amazon purchased eBooks. Your uploaded eBook will display in a folder often called “documents” or “downloaded items.” By organizing your library, you can collect your books and documents into collections much like a physical library, but in a way that works best for you.

4: NEED MORE INFORMATION:

We have found that Amazon’s Send to Kindle free uploading service is nicely explained on the website The-Digital-Reader.com. Visit to learn more about uploading digital documents to your Kindle devices and Kindle apps.
